- KS: A three-year-old Topeka boy who was shot in the head today in his home is being transported from Stormont-Vail hospital to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Family members tell 27 news that adults in the home were playing with a gun that went off.
- CA: Authorities were still trying to find out whether bullying led Jeremiah Finton Lasater, 14, to shoot himself to death in a high school restroom. Jeremiah was a 6-foot-5, 220-pound, sweet-tempered boy who loved football and video games. But homicide detectives say he also was the target of constant taunts.
- WA: A Richland hunter, Dan Reberger, 56, is found dead with a single gunshot wound to his chest. The initial cause of death appears to be accidental.
- UT: An apparent hunting accident claimed the life of a 15-year-old Weber County boy who was shot on Sunday afternoon by his 55-year-old father when his rifle discharged, killing his son instantly. Police said the father is an experienced hunter. The sheriff declined to release the name of the teen or his father, citing the family’s privacy.
- FL: A Leesburg man, Johnny G. Hurst, 73, on a hunting trip with his family in the Osceola National Forest, was killed Sunday while removing a loaded gun from his truck. It appears the muzzleloader was already loaded when Hurst grabbed the barrel of the gun to pull it out of the truck.
- NY: Dylon Belair, 14, was hunting with his father when his muzzle loader accidentally discharged and sent a bullet ripping through his left foot.
- MO: A toddler has died after being shot in a drive-by shooting while he was riding in the car with his father when their car was ambushed at an intersection. At least 13 Bullets riddled the car shattering the windshield and filling the driver’s door full of holes.
- NY: A man being arrested in a New York City subway station struggled with two officers, grabbed one of their guns and shot both of them. A lieutenant working at the Queens subway station shot the suspect in his legs and torso as he tried to flee.
- NC: In Durham, Charles Martin, 61, shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Pamela P. Turner, 61, then turned the gun on himself.
- TN: The state rested its case in the trial of Mario A. Reed, 18, who is charged with using a gun to commit aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated rape and theft of property. The victim, a young woman in the U.S. Army, said that on Dec. 13, 2007, she went into her bedroom and was confronted by a masked man. The victim said for the next hour and a half she would be held at gunpoint and raped twice and forced to perform oral sex twice.
