I hate to criticize these parents who are going through hell
but why, especially when you have a suicidal person in the house,
do you have a gun? Granted, there are any number of ways to kill
yourself but don't you think you ought to remove as many options
as possible?

I listened to a couple of NRA members discussing why concealed
carry was important to them. Apparently, if their weapon had to
be out in the open,
they couldn't take it everywhere with them. The law forbids guns
in certain places, and proprietors of businesses and owners of
property can legally
deny guns from their premises. It seems these NRA fellas like
the concealed carry law because it allows them to violate other
laws at will.
So they may have been right that if we outlaw guns only outlaws
will have them - these NRA members have already demonstrated their
disregard for
existing laws...
Also, why don't persons who violate current gun laws while under
the influence of alcohol face harsher penalty along the lines
of drunk drivers when cited for traffic violations? Gun fetishists
are always comparing how dangerous cars are, and we rightly attach
stiffer penalties to operating these potentially fatal items while
intoxicated - why not the same with guns? Just wondering.

Now that St. Aschroft and the rest of the American Taliban have
decide to apply the same selective eyesight to the Second Amendment
that they use on the New Testament, I only have one question:
When can I get my H-Bomb? After all, the Constitution says the
"the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not
be infringed." Now if the Founding Fathers had meant this
right to apply only to handguns and rifles, they would've had
said so. If Charleton Heston and the rest of those NRA wimps are
really serious about defending the Second Amendment, they won't
rest until every American has the right to own the weapon of mass
destruction of their choice, be it a Stinger surface to air missile
or an Abrahams M-1 tank. Now, rest assured that law abiding Americans
have nothing to fear from a responsible nuclear weapon owner like
myself. I would only use my hydrogen bomb in lawful manner, such
as hunting or self-defense. I will say this, though, those blackjack
dealers at the Golden Nugget might not want to cheat me the next
time I roll into Las Vegas.

out the divorce rates-as they are just as strong on the right
side of the aisle than on the left!

gun nuts. At the NRA gun fest last week, they went to town on
gay people, speaker after speaker...
He tried real hard to shed some light on why gays are members
of the NRA. My interpretation was DENIAL.

What is reasonable? Who decides that? I am sure that Hitler thought
it was reasonable to dispose of people who were not his ideal.
I am sure that Clinton thought it reasonable to get it on with
an intern. I am sure that many people find it reasonable that
same sex marriages be treated with the same legal respect as opposite
sex marriages. And I'm sure that there are plenty of people who
find it reasonable to ban the use of animals for food.
Again, I ask, what is reasonable and who decides this? I have
a REALLY EASY, SIMPLE answer: THE INDIVIDUAL. People should mind
their business unless they are harmed. NOT if they THINK that
they MIGHT be harmed- that is not good enough. Before the use
of legal force prevails, there MUST be factual evidence that harm
was done. PERIOD.

Yeah, there is always a nagging uncertainty in life that the police
can do little about. However, shooting anyone who looks like they
may be dangerous or merely suspicious can create a feeling of
profound security. And remember, personal security is useless
unless it is pro-active. It's no good laying in a pool of blood
thinking to yourself "why didn't I shoot them on sight".
So, it's far better to shoot first and ask questions later. If
everyone did that we'd all be a lot safer.
