AssKKKroft and the NRA
I've often wondered why the NRA uses only a part of the second
amendment in their logo. And I've wondered for years just exactly
what part of "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to
the security of a free State ..." the Supreme (extreme) Court
and John (beaten by a dead guy) Ashcroft don't understand.
The 2nd Amendment is the second shortest of the amendments; only
the 8th is shorter. It's a simple sentence, easily understood
by even one with the most rudimentary grasp of the English language.
As I read it, we get to own guns, but we have to take them with
us when we join up with the modern-day militia -- the US military
forces.
As I read it, we get to keep guns when they call us up to fight
for our country's defense. Just as in the early days of this country,
you should have to take your own gun and provide your own ammunition
when you enlist. Heck, let's take it one step further. Wanna be
an Army, Air Force, Navy or Marine pilot? Bring your own freakin'
airplane or helicopter! The Constitution says you have to. Wanna
be a captain of a Navy ship? Bring your own doggone boat, Davy
Jones.
I cannot for the life of me figure out where and/or how that
simple little 27-word sentence can be misinterpreted to mean I
can buy an Uzi, a Glock 9, or any other weapon.
When I joined the militia ... uh ... I mean the Air Force ...
back in 1967, they were already well-stocked with M-16s for us
to play with.
Boggles the mind, it does!
Sincerely,
Roy Adams

Re: WHEN A BUSH IS BOUGHT, HE STAYS BOUGHT
Didn't George HW Bush make a big show out of resigning as a Life
Member of the NRA back when he was President?

great site...I've always been against hand guns and automatic
weapons, and I've been an ardent supporter of the Million Mom
March for the past three years. I accessed your site through Buzzflash.com,
the best site on the internet, and good company for Gun Guys to
keep....my sister and brother-in-law are NRA members and we've
had many arguments about guns, but I will always believe that
too many unnecessary deaths of innocent people, usually children,
are the result of the gun manufacturers' greed. It doesn't surprise
me one bit that the bush dynasty is propped up by gun money (along
with oil money, drug company money, etc.)...after all, junior
is king of executions, knew about 9/11 (hence, the blood of 3,000
innocents on his hands) and continues to bomb the hell out of
innocent citizens in Afghanistan....all for OIL. Guns are a natural
extension of his swaggering, ridiculous, stupid, arrogant self.
His daddy sits on the Carlylse Group board and they're just manufacturing
BIG guns....they're all just little boys playing cowboy, but God
Help us all with them in charage.
you can print my message if you want to but please don't print
my email address...I get some crazies writing to me and it's scary
ps...up yours, Asscroft

What Hoplophobes Are Good For
Up until lately I thought that the Thumb Suckers and Bedwetters
Brigade served no useful purpose to Humanity. Then I realized
that these mavens of pusillanimity actually do the rest of us
a service by providing easier fodder for predators, who will assault
them rather than me and my family. May I suggest that those of
you who believe the Police can protect you wear a sign saying
"UNARMED" when out and about in public to display your convictions
for all to see. I would far rather see you assaulted/robbed/raped
than be attacked myself and have all the inconvenience of talking
to the cops about the dead oaf on the ground.

Logic for the gun huggers
I wonder how the wingnut gun lovers explain away the fact of
Britain and so many of the other countries that have strict gun
control laws.
With the vast majority of homes there having no firearms, it
must be a small miracle that home invasion robberies, rapes and
rampant murder do not seem to be commonplace in spite of the absence
of a trusty AK-47 behind every door...
Hmmm...

You have an interesting collection of gun stories in which there
is an innocent victim. What is the possibility of giving equal
space to the stories we see in other publications which show a
favorable outcome of the use of private guns? I guess that would
approach objectivity in reporting and that appears to be against
your policy.

Hi,
I believe that the world would be a lot happier (and safer) place
if there were no explosive weapons whatsoever. However, I understand
why our founding fathers stated specifically that we are privileged
to bear arms. The only way it is safe for the citizens to not
have guns is for the government to not have guns. To just disarm
the citizens would make for a more dangerous country than we now
have.

Maybe the kid in the picture is pointing the rifle at a target
while he is being taught to safely handle a gun. Do you have a
problem with someone learning gun safety? If more kids were taught
gun safety there would be fewer accidental deaths. Which, by the
way, are currently far less than they were 25 years ago even though
the number of guns in our country has increased. Guns are not
the problem. Criminals that use guns are the problem. A gun is
an inanimate object that can do nothing by itself.

If Guns are outlawed, only outlaws will be able to protect your
life, only outlaws will be able to overthrow an oppressive government, form
this country, defend our country, be able to arrest murderers
and robbers, and only outlaws will be able to repel invaders.
Sorry but it's not about hunting or even about self protection,
think about what had just happened when they passed this amendment.
They were also talking about the finest assault weapons available
at the time!

I would like to congratulate you on being the most ignorant and
ill-informed web site I've seen this month. If you are to pass
along false information, at least warn viewers that it is purely
for comedy relief. Thanks for wasting my time and I hope that
you enjoyed me wasting yours.
