New name
After reviewing your "so-called" gun sanity list (cough, puke),
I think a new name for the site should be along the lines of www.antigunnutballz.com
or is that one already taken by the million mindless mom march?
Just makes more sense, unlike the anti-gun trust.

Letter to the Editor
Dear Mikey Magnum:
[Long introduction deleted]
Perhaps, Mikey, you should do yourself the small favor of trying
to remember what your parents told you about being careful what
you wish for, 'cause you just might get it. Remember that one?
Better yet, why don't you do the rest of us a favor, and move
your little leftist socialist butt to Canada, England, or Australia.
I'm sure at least one of those countries would be happy to have
you. Well, maybe not. Let's be honest, you are kind of a prick.
Just remember there's always hope when you're flyin' the Concorde
and ya' got a glass full of champagne.
Now go away, little sheep, and leave the decisions to the adults.
Cheers,

Guns In Iraq
Mike,
Great site.
I wonder if all those gun-totin' guys and gals who also support
war on Iraq realize that most homes Baghdad and in the villages
have guns. Specifically, old machine guns and weapons that their
heroes Reagan and Bush I sold to them. AND they do know how to
use them.
I wonder if they further realise that when our young men and woman,
serving the oil interests of Bush II, kick down the doors in Iraq
during the inevitable street fights, those soldiers will come
face to face with Iraqi civilians defending their families with
American made and sold guns.
Congrats you gun nuts. The guns you love so much may just kill
one of your own. But hey, they're just defending your inalienable
rights, huh?
Signed,
A Peacenik
Defensive Gun Use
People have complained that you don't have any stories about
defensive Gun Use. Thought I would help out
In Tucson, Arizona, in 1992 Daniel Bennett was working in his
pizzeria when two armed men entered and shot him in the
chest. He drew his newly acquired Glock and returned fire, but
the gun failed to function after the first round, and the attackers
fired five more shots into him. Bennett sued the gun manufacturer.
At the trial, it was revealed that Bennett had bought the gun
and a box of ammo, had learned to load the magazine, had put it
into the pistol, and had chambered a round. And that was it. He
did have the presence of mind to draw his gun in self-defense,
but he had never learned to shoot it! Apparently, he "limp-wristed"
the self-loading pistol so that it failed to chamber the second
cartridge. Gun writer Jeff Smith calls this "the classic
freshman flunk."
Daniel Bennet survived. But Austrian handgun maker Glock doesn't
feature his story in its advertising -- not even as a cautionary
footnote, even though the NRA's official magazine warns: "In
a personal-protection situation, one can't be sure of having a
firm, two-handed shooting-range grip, so a pistol's functioning
from a weak grip is an important point." See Bennett v. Glock,
Inc., Case No. 2 CA-CV 96-0292 (Arizona Ct. App. June 18, 1998).
I'm sure there are other successful defensive gun users like Mr.
Bennet out there.

Disabled and guns:
Gunguys,
I was greatly amused by Stephen Robbins' spelling of the word
gene and it's ironic usage in the sentence. And Jack L. Spence's
tirade left me nearly speechless. As to his concern for the elderly
and disabled, lets only give guns to them and call them out when
there's a need for deadly force-kind of like tanks to stop bad
guy's with guns. That way the disabled will be both safe and employed!
And I can send my kid to school without worrying some other kid
will make national headlines with a gun there. It will add some
bureaucracy and expense but look how much we'll save on news print!

Dear Mike;

Keep up the good work, guys!!
I think these deluded pro-gun zealots first ought to learn to
spell, and then after that task is accomplished, further their
education by picking up a dictionary and learning the REAL meanings
of "liberty", "fascism", "freedom",
and of course, "moron". But then I'm probably a satanic,
demonic, granola crunching feminazi to suggest such a thing.
Us emotionally stable, calm, and decent individuals always get
all the flack. Oh well.
Yours truly, The Kitten
The Devil You Don't Know
Regarding a previous letter which describes the GunGuys' message
as 'luciferian,' I'm inclined to laugh. After all, if there is
a devil, I can only imagine that he would jump for joy each and
every time somebody buys a gun.

Great site. Terrific stuff. You want to know why you don't get
very many letters telling you to keep up the good work? Because
we read the hate-filled crap sent in by the gun nuts, and a) we
get frightened, for good reason, and b) we know that no amount
of reason or common sense is ever going to get through to these
cretins. I hope there will be a special place in hell for those
who think that the exercise of their hobby is a valid excuse for
the needless deaths of their fellow men. For after all, that's
what we're talking about: shooting is a hobby; gun-collecting
is a hobby. These are hobbies, with no more moral and constitutional
importance than a game of hacky-sack or someone's collection of
beer cans. But hey, why am I wasting my time talking to these
creeps?
g.t.
Constitution
I'm getting awfully sick of hearing gun guys say that they are
defending the Constitution. They most certainly aren't defending
the Constitution, they are merely defending 5 words of the Constitution
- "...to keep and bear arms." What's more, they are
defending those 5 words out of the context in which they were
written, conveniently forgetting all about that "well regulated
militia" part.
Anyone who selectively defends only a very small part of the
Constitution - and taken out of conext - most certainly has no
right to the claim that they are defending the Constitution. Sorry
folks, it's all or nothing.

Funny
This has got to be the funniest mailbag I have ever read on ANY

Keep it up!

Regarding the gun nuts in the great...
...right-wing fruitcake
Just to set the record straight I have been a gun owner all
my life and I also would be a card carrying Liberal if we Liberals
were joiners.
However, unlike the goose-stepping Wayne LaPierre wackos we
free thinkers tend not to flock together, yet still manage to
avoid becoming bomb building, weapon collecting anti-government
loners.
Hmmm. Could it be that we are just a tad more STABLE?
Anyway, I have zero problem with being required to register
weapons that are not primarily used for hunting. Nor do I care
if every person who buys a gun or buys a hunting license is required
to show proof of adequate training to use guns, which amounts
to de facto gun registration in some paranoid little minds.
I also believe anyone who has been convicted of a violent crime
or who has illegally used a firearm to threaten another person-this
excepts self-defense of course-or broken any concealed carry or
other existing gun laws should NEVER be allowed to legally possess
a firearm and should be subject to draconian prosecution and sentencing
if they are caught with one in their possession.
I do wish those John Wayne wannabes would stop assuming that
everyone who sends a few bucks to the ACLU is incapable of hunting
or just popping a few rounds into a tin can on a hay bale. We
can't figure out where the government would find enough brainwashed
dittoheads to come out to each and every individual home in the
nation and forcibly collect unregistered (or registered) firearms
so we don't worry about it. It certainly won't be any of us. We
live to question authority.
Of course it's possible John Ashcroft is raising a zombie army
as we speak. I mean, there's a guy who is dedicated to discipline.
Maybe he is lulling the NRA into a false sense of security so
he can zing them when he finally decides to try to take over the
world. Maybe he really isn't their friend. Sleep well gun nuts.
Pleeeze keep my name and address to yourselves if you can.
Thanks, Z
Jesus meant well when he said love your enemies, yadda, yadda,
yadda. But to obey the real will of God, you got to go old testament.
Get some guns and kill the bastards. Then the little voices will
stop.
- Proud supporter of Bush Bros.
I don’t know if you saw it, but there’s a Dilbert cartoon in
which Dogbert expresses the opinion that people should have all
the guns they want, but HE should be in charge of the ammo, because,
“Frankly, I don’t trust you with anything more dangerous than
string.” “What about Charleton Heston?” “I’d keep the string away
from HIM.”
Keep on keeping on!
Thanks,
Bob Webster

Now I've Seen Everything...
An anti-rights Web site run by what seems to be a bunch of fearful,
freedom hating fascists masquerading as a site that, at first
glance, seems to support inalienable human rights. Amazing! Man,
you liberty despising Nazi’s must be getting desperate to stoop
to such stealthy levels to get your Luciferian message across.
One question, should the US continue down the road to totalitarian
tyranny as it seems to be and you anti-human rights zealots get
your way, will you be there to protect all of the elderly and
/ or disabled people who will be victimized because they lack
the means to defend themselves effectively? Oh sorry, I forgot,
if and when your kind does in fact rule with an iron fist, youll
simply eliminate all the feeble, inferior types wont
you? Theyre too bothersome to have around right?
Jack L. Spence
Join the NRA!
Why do people who hate government intervention and fight tooth,
nail and bullet against gun registration send their name, address,
all kinds of information AND money to the NRA? So if the Government
wanted a list of gun owners they'd pop down to the NRA and make
a copy of the database.
What a bunch of morons!

Gee, which side is prejudiced?

Dear Friend,
I just read the story of the month by mike magnum, 1ST It a great
sham for Mr. Magnum to make fun of a person who has become ill.
But then he makes fun
of all of us who have defended the Constitution of the U.S. I
have spent the last 17yrs and counting in the service of my country
in the United states COAST GUARD, just in the last four years
I have prosecuted over 200 search and rescue cases including the
medevac of a crewmember from the motor vessel
ELLA WARLEY, suffering from multiple laceration to the lower body
and legs after fallen overboard and getting hit by the propellers
during small boat operations, also prosecuted more than 40 general
law enforcement cases and participated in several multi-agency
operation, one which resulted in 18 violations, 6 drug arrest,
and one seized vessel, along with servile illegal migrants interdiction.
Because I believe in the U.S Constitution and the bill of rights
, that also means the second amendment , because I believe every
citizen has the right to own our not to own a firearm because
I believe you cannot pick and chose which part of the bill of
rights you like and discard the rest, because I believe it all
are none , he wants to call me a pervert, states I cannot read
and has called me some other names to be sure , all this show's
me is that he is wrong and he knows it. He cannot debate the facts
because he knows he will
lose the debate so he has resorted to making fun of a person who
has taken ill and calling names like a five year old in a play
ground who just lost his argument and knows it.
Sincerely, EM1Kurt Baschab

Dear dumbguys:
You never replied to my last mail. I didn't expect you to. Logic
hurts.
I just wanted to thank you for your continued idiocy, bigotry
and extreme parananoia. I've taken to referring people to your
site when they ask me if my opponents don't have "Valid reasons"
to fear guns.
Five seconds of your tripe is worth any thousand words I can
write. You've converted at least three people to an honest understanding
of guns.
Thanks, y'all.

Mike, your article on Heston is quite juvenile. I bet your IQ
barely breaks 59, which means your also an idiot. If there are
more than one of you gun guys, your all a bunch of fucking idiots.
Feel free to print my name, you morons!

Women Against Gun Control
Dear Gunguys;
I don't think that Women Against Gun Control read your site,
very often, if they did they would notice, that woman are the
primary target of guns. Also the weapon of choice to kill wife,
girlfriend, etc, is the every handy good old shotgun.
Dale
50 cal article
I understand that the .50 BMG round that you are talking about
was a WW1 weapon intended to overcome German the armor of that
day. FYI there is no federal caliber limit on private guns, 12
guage shotgun slug is about .678 caliber. A breachloading cannon
using other than "fixed" ammunition is, it seems, legal.
An example of these is the 16 inch cannon on an Iowa class battleship.
These throw a 1800 pound projectile about 25 miles. But more importantly,
any machine shop can make guns, they cannot be prohibited in fact,
only in law. Do you honestly want to live in a country where only
the regime and their minions have guns? Your well meaning "antigun"
position wastes effort and energy and detracts from serious matters.
Best Regards,
Bill Dampier
