I Agree . . .

Who gives a shit about the "Bill of Rights"? It's WAY outdated, and should be changed (or eliminated) accordingly to help the government protect its people. I mean, how smart could a bunch of crusty
old men with wigs really be?

What took me so long to find you?!?

Hello, Gun Guys!

I can't believe I wasn't aware of your site--silly me. Thankfully, a fellow member of the Brady Campaign referred me today, and I am so grateful that he did!

Humor and guns--what a great combo! Finally, an outlet for my sarcasm and general nastiness when it comes to gun freaks. I feel like I've discovered my long lost tribe. You are officially bookmarked on my AOL. For laughs, please visit the site, Armed Females of America. Those ole cowgirls in Arizona have a site of the very own, and what a site it is. Great for laughs--especially the photos of those gun gals themselves, which they so proudly display. Makes a woman like me not sure I want to be a woman. Just grateful I don't look, talk or sound like them.

Happy trails.

Straight Shooters Huh?

Dear GunGuys?

Your header at the top of your laughable Web site says "Where everyone's a straight shooter". From the little I have seen of your pitiful excuse for a Web site, you consistently shoot from the "Left" side if you ask me. Your shooting seems to be quite crooked and awry.

How about supporting projects that will make a difference in firearm related violence such as Project I.C.E. and Project Exile? Programs such as these focus local and federal efforts on violent criminals and turn the spotlight away from the law abiding, upright and honest firearm owner.

Making light of violence committed with firearms as you do on your Web site shows that you are not serious about making a difference while maintaining the integrity and original intention of the Bill of Rights with regards to the Second Amendment.

Your efforts would be much more useful and effective if you were to teach children about gun safety, of which you have no information whatsoever.

Oh by the way, put "gun safety rules for kids" into http://www.google.com and see who comes up in first place...

Firearms have been around since the early 1300's and they are not going to go away. They have been an integral aspect of human society for almost 700 years and all of sudden we have found them to be a scourge??? Gimme a break gunguys...

In order for you and your efforts to be taken seriously, you must help find ways to combat violence committed with firearms while leaving the lawful gun owner out of the loop... There are many answers and avenues to pursue in this arena and your Web site is less than helpful.

Oh, yes, before I forget, if you intend on coming at me with the Supreme Court decisions from the first half of the last century, in regards to the validity of the Second Amendment, I have seventy five (75) quotations from the Founding Fathers who have something else to say... http://www.SaveTheGuns.com/quotes.htm

Fun Stuff

Hey Gun Guy!

Thanks for the site. I'm a democrat and a liberal, but I also own some handguns. So, I'll be reading the rants from Canada about how pot should be allowed but not guns, and think, "Hey, both sound fun to me, somebody bring the chips!" But I trust me to handle my substances and my weapons (although not at
the same time!); I can't say I trust others to, unfortunately. Anyway, my guns are kept securely locked until I take them to the range where I enjoy practicing marksmanship. It's fun, and I wish others could be trusted to own these loud bad boys, but that's not the case. I'm glad I live in a country and in a state where I've had the option to own guns. I take my responsibility for them very seriously and seriously enjoy them. I think there are a lot of us out there-- gun owners who have guns for fun, because they can have them, and keep the weapons locked up and out of the hands of anyone who wouldn't be responsible with them or would do bad things with them.

Keep up the good work!

JOE

Charlton Heston link, 7/28

Mike,

I am all for lampooning idiots and idiotic ideas, and Heston is a ripe subject for both. The fact that he has Alzheimer's disease, however, strikes me as a less appropriate target, and I feel it takes away from the true reasons Heston deserves mocking. Is it ironic that malevolent men who wielded malicious ideas, like Reagan and Heston, now must suffer as they lose what cognitive ability they once had? Sure, but it is also tragic, and small and open-minded people both are affected by this disease. Heston's current plight is unfortunate; his ideas and behavior were inexcusable.

Eddie the Eagle Program

Gun Guys,

Ok, ok, I know your answer is "ban all guns." Let's go with that, but let's say that it takes, hmmm... three years to complete. In three years, you will have NO guns of any kind in America. Pretty far fetched. But you have to be optimistic, right? Ok, great, so you've accomplished your task.

Now, a little math. Your page also says that 10 kids die every day due to "gun violence." I'm not going to argue with your source for the moment. That means that until the last gun is off the street, 10,950 kids will die. Wouldn't it be great if you could trim that a bit? I know the "Eddie the Eagle" program is sponsored by the NRA (i.e., inherently evil). But do you really have a better idea? Ok, stop shouting "ban all guns."

When I was a child, we had the fire department come to our school and talk about fires. We had a nurse come to our school and talk about household poisons & smoking. We had a policeman come by and talk about strangers. Now "Eddie the Eagle" is coming by to warn about guns. By your reasoning, a lot of kids would be jumping into cars with strangers while smoking & chugging bleach, with a pistol in one hand and a torch in the other.

Maybe you are opposed to the NRA, like I am opposed to Democrats. But one measure of intelligence is to be able to accept ideas if they are profitable, even if they do come from the opposition. Not telling kids about guns is akin to not telling them about drugs, poisons, fire, etc. Since the Democrats don't think that parents can raise their own kids (ok, in some situations they are right), this means that an outside entity must intervene. If you have a better idea, please speak up.

Sincerely,
David Andrews

Not a member of the NRA, but a rational, law-abiding gun owner none the less.

Let me add a little wisdom

I stumbled upon your site by accident, and I was seriously concerned at the lack of common sense exhibited. This will probably fall on deaf ears, but here goes anyway.

I am a former State Highway Patrolman with many years of experience, and my experience is that seatbelts do not save lives all of the time, but in reality they do decrease the instances of injury or death in slow speed crashes. If you drive your car into a tree at 100 mph, your seatbelt will not save your life, so is the solution to ban motor vehicles ? We know that this will not happen even though motor vehicle kill more people every year than do handguns.

I do not support illegal gun useage. I believe that responsible people have the right to protect their homes and family from the predators of this world. As a police officer I know that the police are not capable of protecting me, or my family. I usually got there in time to drag off the bodies, and help clean up the blood. Why deny responsible people the right to possess the ability to defend themselves by endorsing the blanket confiscation of all firearms. Why don't you redirect your emphasis towards the legal possession of firearms by responsible citizens, instead of the mindless attempt to repress gun ownership. As long as there are predators in society who will prey upon the weak, man must possess the ability to defend himself in the best way possible. Until something better comes along....the gun is the solution. As for you who support the total confiscation of guns, I guess the alternative is to hide in your homes in fear if you become successful, which is as unacceptable to me as banning motor vehicles. Support legislation to prosecute people who use guns illegally. I admire your zeal in what you are doing, but change directions; you're going the wrong way friend.
