Fear

Hi--my best friend was shot and killed when she was 15, as was her boyfriend, also a friend of mine, in a small Vermont town. In the same town few years later, the little brother of a close friend of mine was shot by friends as he lay in his tent. One was an accident, one was a murder, and one was a suicide.

Whatever the circumstances of the deaths of these young people, no Eddie the Eagle was gonna save them. The guns were there and they did the job they were built to do. Now so many grieve the loss of these three and the loss of so many others, and I continue to hear the sentiment "from my cold, dead hand."

On that path of fear they, or a loved one, may just get their wish.

Before any of the dumbasses on this site start bashing guns, they need to take the time to educate themselves about guns. All they know how to do is talk out of thier asses on how guns kill people. The day I see a gun sitting in a courtroom being questioned I will help round them up until I catch the last one. Those guns are smart and run pretty fast, they also have free will and can shoot you as they wish. Guns cause violent bloody crime. Just look at O.J. If you assholes don't enjoy your freedoms and rights due to and upheld by the second amendment then get the hell out and go to Canada or some other pussy nation that depends on our gun toting soldiers for their freedom. On Gun Bans

A bit of history for those who consider some of us "gun freaks". You may print this, I have never feared the opposition, indeed I find that in the face of reality the opposition has very little to say that is of any value.

Centuries ago, when the outdated bill of rights was in the works, a despotic rich man named George sent his red coated soldiers to this country we live in and attempted to take a culture that was growing in directions he had no knowledge of and force those people to bow before him and pay his taxes, as well as submit to his misplaced authority. Farmers, businessmen and regular people took up arms and prevented him from dominating this country. Many of my ancestors were among them. The "national Guard" you all refer to was the same then as now, just regular people fighting tyrany.

Centuries later a funny little man with a wierd moustache banned firearms from the less fortunate whom he considered inferior, and within less than a short lifetime he committed a historical case of genocide against the defenseless, because like our rich and famous here, such as Rosie O'Donnell, he felt his way was THE way.

Governments have come and gone and 170 million people have fallen to the tyrants and murderers in power because they were disarmed.

Gun banners like to use the SAVE THE CHILDREN logo to promote their beliefs, yet millions of gun owners safely teach their children to shoot, often to defend their homes without incident.

Gun banners like to pretend that personal defense is not a good reason to own a gun. How many of you have felt the knife blade of a rapist on your throat, and smelled his stinking breath as he violated you? How many of you have held your baby (like I did ten years ago) as your wife was mugged and you could not defend her?

Countless people face the reality every year and realize that there is only one thing that will make the weak, the lame, and old and the defenseless equal to his or her attacker: It is not pepper spray, which does little to the drug crazed, it is not the police, who cannot arrive in time to save you, it is not a sutn gun which will harm both you and your attacker, it is a projectile launching firearm.

Criminals will never be stopped by gun control, they laugh in it's face. Only a fool would ever look on is wife, little children and home and think he can stop evil with his hands alone. 170 million victims in the last century will tell you that no government is above oppressing and murdering it's people. If you think prison or the police will protect you, do some research and find out how many killers walk the streets, and how many times the police arrive in time to stop crime.

Face the music folks, gun bans and gun control are a farce and a failure.

Daschle's betrayal

Dear GunGuys:

Senate Democrats should call for Senator Tom Daschle's resignation as their party leader.

Tom Daschle, has lost all sense of doing what's right. He shows no understanding of the party's ideology and has apparently loss his will to stand up for public safety. I speak of his cosponsorship to the NRA's gun manufacturer immunity bill, S. 659.

One lesson painfully learned in the 2002 Election cycle was that nowadays no one is sure what Democrats stand for. Sadly, Senator Daschle's actions have only reinforced this perception. His actions will further divide the party and push folks like myself, who feels abandoned by those Democrats weak on the gun issue, into the Independent camp.

No one should be leading the Democratic party when they're willing to sponsor pet projects for the NRA, the Republican party's #1 special interest group.

Good day!

While most of my friends say I lean to left, and am somewhat liberal, I do have my right wing leanings. I think there is one subject that most of the left hasn't really thought through. That being gun ownership and the inherent safety thereof.

It won't be the Democratic party which does away with guns, it will be the Republicans. Much of what is said at BuzzFlash refers to the current Republican cabal in the same paragraph with Nazis and fascist, and rightfully so.

The theme of the articles centers around how our rights are being eroded, etc. This thinking alone should make each and everyone of you go out and buy weapons, for one day you are going to need them!

Responsible Gun Ownership

Dear Gun Guys,

I do not want to try you how to run your site, but I think you could be headed in the wrong direction. We need responsible gun ownership is this country. We need to educate our kids to be respectful of guns and shooting. The media portray gun owners as "gun nuts", and they only report on the stories of gun violence rather than reporting all the times gun save lives. This is helping to ruin the credibility of gun rights advocates, and is helping to disarm law abiding citizens.

Criminals have already made the choice to commit crime, what makes you think they will follow gun laws? This country will never be totally gun free, but if you have your way people that want to protect their family will be criminals. Guns will not go away if they are banned, criminals will always be able to purchase firearms. Think about it, if you were a criminal would be buy a gun from a gun store and have it registered to yourself? There is a black market in this country, and it will only get worse if guns are banned.

It is time to stop with the emotional debate on how guns kill people, and look at the facts. Guns help save lives. When people are attacked ussualy all they have to do is display the weapon and the attacker will leave and pray on someone else who is unarmed. It makes total sense for criminals to rob unarmed people. Crime will indeed get worse if all guns are banned.

We need to, as a country, come together and cross party lines to look at the facts of gun control. Look at what has happened in our nations capital! It is now the murder capital of the world, and guns are banned. I wonder why there are so many murders if guns are banned? I would like to hear what you have to say about this.

March 2003 Site of the Month

I noticed that your March 2003 Site Of The Month was Smith and Wesson, for making a .50 caliber revolver. Smith and Wesson has now been selling these for almost a year now, and I have heard of NO ONE being shot with one of these, as you seemed to think would happen. Surely Gun Guys would know of such an occurrence, or you would think that some gun control group would publicize such news, saying "We told you so."

Why do you think that we have not heard of ANYONE being shot with one of these? Gun Guys must be very disappointed!

Also, I have often heard that it is small & cheap .25 & .32 caliber guns that should be banned because these "Saturday Night Specials" are used to shoot people more than the average handgun. But Gun Guys seems to think that big & expensive .50 caliber guns are bad. Which guns are bad - small & cheap guns or big & expensive guns?

It was extremely venomous and reckless and left me wondering do you simple hate Smith and Wesson or are you really a left wing gun control nut. I know that I can bring down a deer with a 22 rifle, so by your logic or lack there of, it is immoral to buy or use a 12ga. With a Barnes expander slug. You gun-control morons are so full of crap. It's a shame that I defend the rights of liberal faggots like yourselves. So the Bill of Rights is outdated and should be amended or eliminated? YEA!! Here are Senator Kerry's remarks against Democrats distancing themselves from the gun control issue and against special interests like the NRA stealing the voice of average Americans within our democracy. This is from the debate in Detroit, October 26:

There's a front-page story in today's Washington Post that says that Democrats are going to try to run away from the issue of gun safety.

I don't think that we can get elected nationally if we are not prepared to stand up against powerful special interests and make it clear that, whether it's the NRA or any other special interest, we're prepared to stand for our principles.

All across this country, we have too many people who die each year from guns. So let me make it plain: I am for the assault weapons ban. I'm for the Brady Bill. I'm for making sure we stand up for gun safety in this country. We cannot be a party that retreats in an effort to try to court votes and not save lives.

We also have to stand up against all the special interests. They have changed the face of America. They're stealing our own democracy.

And I believe whether it's rolling back the high end of the Bush tax cut or getting big oil out of the White House or reversing the policy decisions with respect to education, we need in this country to fight against those interests that are taking the voices of the average Americans away.

I've done that for 35 years. And I intend to do that, to stand up to them as President of the United States.

Can't understand educators and bureaucrats clamor for rubbers, teaching sex education in schools, sodomy is as good as other relations in our schools, "just say no" to drugs in our schools when one quarter of the kids are on ritalin (Methylphenidate," in the words of a 1995 DEA background paper on the drug, "is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant and shares many of the pharmacological effects of amphetamine, methamphetamine, and cocaine.") and other deviant procedures whereas STDs are on the increase and the
vehement denial of teaching firearms safety in a classroom environment in school is upheld. Kids learn how to swim to save their lives, why not firearms safety. Maybe too many will pick up the love of firearms for the
rest of their lives?

hey gun guys,

saw this yesterday, so everything VERY preliminary..and sadly, this is a murder case.

i must say that i'm so glad Congress wants to protect gun dealers, including this "very likeable guy", from civil lawsuits. (s. 659)
